SUZANNE GENTLING ARTIST’S STATEMENT 2025
I did my first drawings in high school biology class. That summer my brother Scott gave me a small set of watercolors. And so began a lifetime of creative pursuit. I’ve had some excellent teachers along the way but none more compelling for me than the natural world. If you want to learn how to see, draw. If you want to explore the world while traveling deep within, paint. The adventure, the challenge and the gift this activity offers never ends.
‘MAPS AND MESSAGES’
TODD CHRISTENSEN ARTIST STATEMENT 2025
My Art has wandered like my mind. Ideas from a book, a thought, nature….When I start a painting I am not sure where it will go and let the paint lead me. I have found that while making art my heart beat is even and my mind calm and then the work takes form. These paintings title ‘Maps and Messages’ 2013 - came from making maps on movies and the many ways messages are transmitted.
BOB LUKEMAN ARTIST’S STATEMENT 2025
An artist and photographer with deep roots in the American Southwest, Bob has always used his craft to mark time’s passing. Changing landscapes and cityscapes have been a prominent focus of his work. He attended Texas Tech and graduated from The University of North Texas, in Denton, where he succumbed to his creative side and earned a BFA in photography. A long career in commercial, advertising and corporate photography was peppered with work in the film industry. This, along with his intense interest in history and storytelling, led Bob to pursue documentary film making. While studying photography at UNT, he followed the trail of smoke coming out of Fort Worth to the Swift Packing House. Witnessing the burning of this landmark complex fostered an interest in documenting other sites leading to historic projects in New York, Galveston, Albany, Dell City, Fort Worth and even abroad. Whether capturing yesterday’s majestic structures, or obscure and often unnoticed, more intimate “behind the scenes” glimpses, Bob strives to instill a sense of value to life’s less noticeable artifacts.
“Our cultural heritage is a treasure and our awareness of its many facets and its value should be preserved and embraced.”
AUSTIN CHRISTENSEN ARTIST STATEMENT 2025
“Wonder and Discovery” is how I have come to think of my work. I have a plan and vision in mind for each piece but it is very basic and I always wonder how the piece will unfold. As I dive into the different layers and discover how the wood interacts with the epoxy, the piece comes to life. It’s that possibility of discovery that pushes me to find the sculpture.
